Your company is using AI, even if it isn’t

I want to talk about workslop and tasteslop, but today I need to talk about why I want to talk about those things.

The implementation rate of AI by business is massively below the rate of adoption by staff to do work. The very Australians who, according to IPSOS/Google, have a 35% chance of trusting AI with a life decision, have a 70% chance of trusting it to assist them with work.

The only conclusion you can draw from this is that your staff are using AI at work.

But according to Australia’s AI adoption tracker, only 13% of businesses have implemented fully managed AI systems.

That is a massive gap between people using AI for work without training, without safety rails, without knowledge retention and people working within corporate systems.

You could be crushing it with AI but you are using it to produce workslop and tasteslop: wasting time, producing boring outcomes, glorifying the banal as though it is a revelation and generally messing the bed. More about that later.
